How to: mark up revisions

Knowing how to mark up revisions on a draft design is an important skill to make your life (and your designer’s) a lot easier and less stressful. Follow our info below to cover all the different ways to mark your amendments with ease.

Adobe Acrobat Reader (Mac/Windows)

With Adobe Acrobat Reader you can: annotate PDFs using sticky notes; type text directly onto the page; highlight, underline, or use strikethrough tools; and draw on the screen with the freehand drawing tool. You can get detailed steps on how to use Acrobat’s features here and download here

Preview (Mac)

Preview is a standard feature on Apple laptops and desktops. It opens a variety of graphics documents as well as PDF and you can view, edit, annotate and combine files and share them when you’re done.You can get detailed steps on how to use Preview’s features here

Go Nitro Pdf Reader (Windows)

Download the free version Nitro PDF Reader to be able to view/print/email/share pdfs along with being able to mark up your documents with creative feedback to your designer. You can get detailed steps on how to use Go Nitro’s features here and download here

Microsoft Word (Mac/Windows)

Microsoft Word is a great tool for times when you need to amend your written content only as you can use their review and commenting tools to track changes as you make them. You can get detailed steps on how to use Word’s track changes features here

Hand-writing your changes

When yourself in a situation where a computer isn’t handy for marking up your amendments, hand-writing them may be the best option.
