Tax is no longer a dirty word

So your eyes glaze over when you hear tax acronyms? Mine too. Lodge your tax return without giving too much thought to deductions? Your accountant may or may not be super helpful beyond the standard. I’m about to share a cold hard truth with you.

The Australian Tax Office loves design (hear me out)

The ATO (promise this will be the only acronym) publishes a list of deductions called Other operating expenses and the very first bullet point fills me with joy.

Advertising and sponsorship costs are deductions

The ATO has found a way to help businesses that spend money on stunning design. Business cards, flyers, signage, digital advertising and many more are claimable. This means brand spanking new designs and a tax deduction!

Pretty exciting eh? The next step is to chat with an accountant or the ATO for more detailed information on the tax side.

Start dreaming & planning big for your next design project, while knowing that the ATO’s got your back!
